The screenshot makes the wallpaper look low-res, whether it is IRL or not I'm unsure. That said, I believe either if the wallpaper is dark then the icons be light, here they meld. I don't have a better example, but in this screen I put the icons on a black backdrop so they "pop" while the icons in the folder match the overall wallpaper.
