Stoicism is having the discipline to accept things as they are and to prevent the possibility of your surroundings dictating you, preventing them from dictating your actions, your fate. It's preventing the outsourcing of your happiness. The only thing a man truly has is the body he possesses, therefore cultivating yourself is the greatest favor you can do for the only person on earth you owe everything to: yourself.
