Linking small budget TV series to BIG budget movies would have caused all sorts of problems as far as continuity goes and it would have brought a lot of baggage with it in the form of lore from the CWverse (not to mention Arrow might meet Batman and realise what a shallow imitation he is). So I prefer the multiverse approach.
Best case scenario? 2021, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths.
