Only 3,000 Honda RC30 VFR750Rs were produced, as required by the 1988 World Superbike inaugural season regulations. How did the new Honda series go? Fred Merkel's in this Honda won the first two WSBK World Championships in 1988 and 1989. The VRF750R RC30 was ruling on race tracks all over the world... including China. Robert Dunlop won the GP in Macau in 1989 and Steve Hislop repeated his feat a year later in 1990. The RC30 was also matchless at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and in endurance racing.
Interestingly, the V4 engine from Honda was factory-fitted with a full racing package including modified pistons and modified crankshaft even in street legal , stock version of this motorcycle.
