I think they're fairly popular because when you blur these pictures it looks like it's from the 80s, which is the time when Japan was at its peak, and they've never come close to that again after the bubble burst
>>6775003The nice thing about japan is no matter where you go there's always something aesthetic. if you do end up going, make sure you be adventurous and explore. taking the train is quick, cheap, and easy, and don't be afraid to just see where the line ends.

(and learn some actual japanese, I met two people there who spoke fluent english, one was some random subway worker and the other one was my cousin's wife, and no one told me she spoke english)
