>>7502039Looked up my childhood home on google maps cause of this. Hasn't been updated since 2012, my road didn't really go anywhere so they have no reason to keep it updated regularly, even the small town outside hasn't been touched since 2016. But my road is still in 2012.
My dad's truck is still in the driveway, our truck is gone, I'm sure we were on a road trip at the time. The RV we bought and used once is still there next to the house, clean but neglected. The old rope swing is tied up on the garden fence, just as I left it that summer, the one between 7th and 8th grade I spent ranting and raving about my undying love for a girl who'd come to break me to my cousin in LA.
I checked out the old Zillow listing, it hasn't been put up for sale since, so all the pictures are the same. Everything in my house is the same, it's mine. I saw the birdhouse on the tree outside I built with my dad. I saw the firepit we built together out of bricks we salvaged from a dog pen he built when he first bought the place. I saw the kitchen, all the work my dad put into making it nice for my mom. I saw the living room, with the TV we relegated to the basement in the last move we all did together to make way for 4K. I saw the place we put the Christmas tree every year. We didn't get a tree that year.
I saw the office, where I first picked up a Freddy Fish game, when I learned Google was not yet smart enough to give me information on something as basic as the Great Pyramids for a school report. Where I first found this place from jokes my edgy friends made.
Finally I saw the bedrooms. My sister's, where we used to fight and wrestle and scream at each other, because she was and still is a dumb shit, but it's a mess here. She was so young, it's hard to comprehend. I saw my parent's room, I could almost see just off frame the reading nook my dad was so proud of making out of a void in the wall. I saw the bed I spent so many sick nights in as a kid, watching Boomerang on the old CRT.
