Although I could be completely wrong, vaporwave to me has always been about chasing a lost era. Whenever I see pictures of things like the streetscapes or the electronics or cities at night in the 80s-90s it gives me this feeling of wanting to go back to that era although I was born in the 90s. Having said that I grew up "behind" on technology so that's probably why I get nostalgia about vaporwave.
