Having lived with this for a bit now I've needed to change a lot of it just based on usage. Having text titles felt so silly after a little while too.
I tried to use image backgrounds but it never felt right so a simple gradient works well.
The categories are search, major pages, minor pages. So far that feels right to me. Having the different search fields has been very useful to far as well.
