Arch Linux focuses on cutting edge software provided thru a rolling release system. It is full of bugs and inconsistencies. The only thing good about Arch is it's non-intrusive package management system.
Debian focuses a lot more on security and stability at the expense of being slightly out of date. Along with Debian's strict stance on free software, it's the reason why there are so many Debian variants.
If I wanted to tinker for days I'd install Gentoo or something similar. If I wanted newer software I'd use Ubuntu. Arch is a pointless distro desu.
