>What's Seattle like?
I've been asked that question several times before. To really give people an understanding of what it's like to be in Seattle.... it's probably one of the most liberal minded places on the planet, especially in the U.S and the recent legalization of weed reflects that greatly. When you're downtown you'll automatically realize all the strange hipster people walking right along side the suit & tie businesses people.
People there smoke a LOT of weed, especially at night when walking the streets of the epicenter you'll notice the scent of herb floating around. Cops literally don't care unless they see it, and when they do the most they can do is fine you. Most cops there will usually just turn their heads and pretend they didn't see you lighting up.
And yes it does rain a lot in Seattle, on average 156 days a year, and yes it's very cloudy. There's a nice calm ambiance here in the Puget Sound region and it's perfect for introverts. Since it's always so grey in the land of no shadows people try to find other ways to find comfort, however the sad part about this area is the suicide rate which is some of the highest in the nation. There's a reason why Nirvana was founded here with that genre. But I feel that grungyness is fading away as people look for optimism here.
Seattle in becoming the next great tech city of innovation especially since Amazon moved in downtown with their massive headquarters.
Silicon Valley is looking over here and being extra cautious because Seattle is now an official competitor of the tech industry.
