I did try with the strip meeting the left side of the screen, I didn't like it.
As for the notification bar, I did have it transparent, but I quite like having it there, it compliments the transparent navbar well, in my opinion.
The strip is actually really simple! I opened the image in paint, and just put a rectangle down it, and then just set it a few times adjusting it a little bit to get it in the right place. I'm sure there's a better way of doing it, but it works.
