And wouldn't that girl be classified as a sharp shooter? I confess that I don't remember the scene, but if she wasn't wielding a rifle I wouldn't call her a sniper.
I could be wrong though, maybe the equipment doesn't matter. Like how the difference between a sniper and a marksman is how they operate in the field.
