Cyberpunk will probably not be a reality in this society. Our current society is geared towards its own destruction, but I would like to think that after a short period of reorder and restructure a new one might emerge, a more traditionally oriented one that looks towards the ancients of our own time for guidance and inspiration in theirs.
The next generation (perhaps those born after 1996, or Generation Z since they're the most conservative since the Korean War), or the first cyberpunk generation, will become the ancients of their era. They may even come to the conclusion that sometimes the old way of doing things is the best way of doing things.
