>>7122403Even though it's supposedly a huge city by population, it's never really felt that way. The downtown is small and full of funny novelty shops and local restaurants, and the university just sort of bleeds into the city and keeps that laidback college vibe. The lake cuts across the city, so whenever you're going somewhere you drive over calm blue-green water filled with people lazily kayaking or paddleboarding. It's in the middle of the hill country, and so there are huge sloping hills covered in green that hide all the houses and people within them. It just feels deeply personal, even with almost a million people supposedly running around. I suppose I just really love that vibe, a city focused so entirely on food, music, and relaxing.
