I, before knowing what it truly meant, told people: "think of it as a vow of obedience, whatever the Pope says, let it be your law"; similar situation one has in a monastery: the Abbot is the absolute law, even if you disagree with him (of course always when none of Christ teachings are violated) you are to obey him.
