I noticed that when he was changing in between the backgrounds that they would overlap eachother for just a few frames then render the correct background. I tossed out the idea to snap one right as he swapped to see if it would capture both and it actually worked.
This shot was just messing around with a grenade in the background but I think if someone actually tried implementing this into their compositions there could be some real preem shots.
