>>7728595I could have written this summary. Especially what a hack and whore Brian Herbert turned out to be. His "additions" to the Dune saga are a desecration and the Bene Gesserit would have found a way to keep him alive for 25,000 years inside a nerve induction pain box for what he's done. With any luck, in a few thousand years the Bene Gesserit will rise, remember intimately and directly who & what Brian Herbert is, grow a ghola of him in an axolotl tank, and lock that ghola into a nerve induction coffin until the Honored Matres return and achieve enlightenment.
My other take on it is that Heretics of Dune & Chapterhouse Dune are somewhat better than that review gives them credit for. But, I will concede that God Emperor is arguably the crowning work of the series.
The same way that Messiah was an Epilogue of sorts to Dune, Children of Dune is something of a Prologue for God Emperor. So, conceptually, you can divide the series into three main parts where the first two books are one story, the second two books are another story that is a sequel to the first, then the final two books are the finale to what the God Emperor was trying to achieve. They each have their own merits and flaws, but I never try to say one part is clearly better than the others ... just different and focused on different aspects of the Golden Path.
