Remember, she is a PhD student like me, and very disciplined. She's not going to give into every little feeling or she would not have made it this far in her education.
I guess it was wrong to just choose to run away from the situation. It's just that I would be taking a huge risk here. I would be exposing myself as someone who doesn't respect her relationship or their boundaries, and I would risk the success of our projects.
Both of us are heavily invested in this work and will only become more so as the work continues. That leaves neither of us in a place where we can just drop what we are doing and go somewhere else.
I don't want to be a beta or whatever you think I am, but if I am going to try to build a relationship I don't want it to be build off of tempting her to cheat and making her feel like shit. Sure, it could work, but is that sustainable? Is that something I am going to want to live with?
