for example: the random lonely pencil and scissors goes here, the out of place stack of old ps2 games goes on this specific part of the desk, etc
you could also use some more classic somewhat dark (but not too dark) wooden furniture, it adds to the coziness.
that pure white desk from the second pic definitely needs to be replaced, it just blends in with the wall!

also, pic related is another example of something that is overdesigned/cluttered actually looking quite good
modern websites look very sterile compared to something like that
