But the problem with that is 3 months before they stopped being my friend they confronted me on those issues. After that I made a conscious effort to fix those problems, because I really wasn't being a good friend during that time. And no matter how I look at it now, I did address those problems, I stopped doing the things they had issues with, maybe not fully but mostly to the point it happened very rarely and I would apologize whenever I caught myself.
But non of that seems to have mattered to them. I don't know if they were really so hung up on issues that shouldn't have been issues anymore, or if they just used it as a justification. I guess I'll never really know.
But it does feel like a waste to go through all that effort to address the issues only to discover at the end it that non of it mattered from the start.
