>>7045118>>7045451 (cont.)Saying someone is a fascist is an insult. And most people who supported Trump in the 2016 election were moderates who looked to him for job security or saw Hillary as an inept, corrupt politician. Which, granted, is mostly truth.
Instead of suggesting that the Right could be as varied and multifaceted as the Left, many leftists accused the right of being entirely composed of its extremes. The conservatives do the exact same thing to the Left, but in this case, they won out politically.
It is a case of intolerance verses intolerance. Being intolerant of someone's intolerance isn't a paradox. It's a contradiction. Hold to your beliefs in freedom of speech and expression, or don't. And don't pretend that intolerance isn't protected by your belief system, just because you don't support it. It's not a paradox. It's flaking on your own beliefs.
If your society is as strong as it has to be to continue forward, tolerance will win out in the end. Be tolerant of everyone's opinions, lest we live in a society of thought crimes.
But never, NEVER tolerate actions that harm others. Thinking and doing are different. Know the difference.
