Check out some cinderblock desks too. the pictured one is bleh, but paint the blocks and stain the wood and you'll have a pretty nice desk, on the cheap, that you can customize exactly how you like. Helped a friend build an L shaped one, half for his PC and half for his art hobby. It turned out really nice, and he spent around $60 after paint and staining supplies.
