I started rooming with a girl who is in the same major as me at my college (in fact we live in the same hometown and went to the same high school but never met each other). We found out that we got the same internship this summer and decided to rent out a place to save on costs. It was a purely pragmatic decision at the time but as we starting talking and I got to know her more over this summer I've started to become attracted to her. She's younger than me by a few years and is still in college while I'm headed off to graduate school this coming semester. We're at different stages of our academic careers but we're both aiming for PhDs eventually.
The internship ends in a few weeks and I have a feeling of longing/melancholy for it to last a little longer. We've reflected on the past 2 months and we both absolutely enjoy the stability of living on our own and having each other as roommates.
I want to tell her how I feel but I understand this might be wishful thinking or some sort Stockholm syndrome. I won't let it hang over my head if she doesn't feel the same way because we both have goals to strive for.
Life goes on but I've enjoyed the short time I've spent with her so far.
