I've got the same problem with MMO's. The ones that have some kind of communites, don't really speak to me. Just like you said, "the glory days of the genre have passed". I would love to be a part of an mmo. I played WoW for about 3,5 year, but that was a long time ago. WoW is kind of boring to me.
There's always this thought in my mind that I'm waiting for "my mmorpg". The one that could last for most of my life, don't know if you get it. Like a life game, which I have one now (League of Legends), but it's not an mmorpg, so it doesn't fill all my needs. I thought that maybe Wildstar, even tho it was not a fantasy game, could be it. But it failed so badly.
I'm still waiting tho, for that one amazing game. I hope to see you there with me, having adventures.
