Now, ITT what we've been discussing, i think, is essentially - paraphrasing what others have said - experiencing mental stimulation from something that one finds aesthetically pleasing to the senses (with this situation in particular focusing on wallpapers and visual images).
Everyone's probably felt this before - it's no different to, for instance, listening to a piece of music that you really like and getting tingly chills down your spine/hairs standing on end - we're just dealing with a different medium here.
The thing to keep in mind is that what triggers these sensations in people varies immensely, OP here tried to get rather specific with what tickles his/her own fancy. But that's just what suits OP in particular. We all have our own preferences with what gives us this feeling, as we do with all things, and some of us don't/haven't yet experience/d it at all.
As it's been defined here, we've got words popping up all over the place, like: isolation, mass/scale, human perspective, alienation, abstract realities/surrealism, existentialism, poignancy, etc, etc - but these aren't kickers for /everyone/, hence the several misunderstandings as to what OP's talking about.
What exactly is this feeling though? It's possible that it's ASMR (as others have added), or a different type of/similar phenomenon to ASMR.
In any case, awesome thread guys, cheers, it was an interesting read. Nabbed some neat wps too.
