something I found over the years of collecting low res papes is that modern pixel art of doesn't work for me. you'd think it should, being originally made in a true, low resolution. however, I found that often these images are really made with a sensibility of being looked at scaled up. I couldn't tell you why exactly, but images like this one I do like, but in if it is scaled down to a true 1-to-1 pixel ratio, it loses a lot of its energy. modern pixel art really is a high resolution genre. at least I found this to be the case for much of it
