Chop off the borders, shrink what's left down to 1440p (or better yet blow it up to 2160p ONLY IF that can be done with close-enough-to-zero quality loss), then extend it equally on both sides until it's 16:9. You do what you want with the background color/texture as long as it doesn't look like shit.
