Sometimes, I really hate my younger brother. In public, we can sort of get along, but when our backs are turned, I think we both despise the other since we are the common foil of good academic standing vs. good social standing. But the thing that really pisses me off about him is the reception. Currently going into fourth year of uni (studying engineering) and sacrificed those supposed good college years to maintain grades >=3.3. As a result, I can count the number of friends on one hand and people look at me like I'm some kind of bug-eyed alien when I tell them I've never been to a college party, been years since I went to a kino, and never even been to a concert. On the flip side, my brother almost flunked his first year of uni (studying a foreign language), but he has had more girlfriends than I can count on both hands (and sexed most of them), regularly gets drunk and/or high at frat parties he is not even a part of, looking at getting an apartment at uni (I'm in the dorms), being a waiter at a bar/restaurant has gotten him some hefty tips and he recently got a second job through a friend that pays more than I've ever made, and to add the cherry on top, he keeps boasting about how he is looking forward at a RAISE in less than a month. About the only thing I can hold over him is that the parents trust me with the newer cars, because he snuck off with mine and ate a telephone pole with it, but even that is a couple years old. Why am I doing everything by the book and still falling behind?
