I'm 11 audio books in on Harry Dresden now and definitely enjoying them.
There's long term developing story arcs accross all the books and he's slowly becoming stronger, more experienced and funnier as they go.
I was a bit put off with the first couple of books, he was always quite down but they definetly pick up.
Around book five and onwards he becomes funny and wise cracking while also barely surviving a lot of the fights.
Iron Druid is a lot more light hearted right from the start, its fun and the lead guy always seems to have a handle on things. His power level is on a par with going toe to toe with gods right from the start. He seems to know what he's doing most of the time. Plus he has a companion who always makes it fun with wise cracks. It's really well written and a nice read.
Dresden in contrast seems to be always getting his ass kicked and barely hanging on. Sometimes he survives only by luck.
Rivers of London is very different, its more real, slower with a lot less power and magic. After a few books the lead can barely do a couple of spells. It's more about building the world in a realistic way so that it could exist in what we have today. I've read all the books and thee's only been a couple of major magical fights.
