>>7423101I think it's something about film that mimics the way I associate memories and feelings. When I remember things in my life the memories I get are usually sort of just still images. And the muted colors and graininess of film help with evoking a mood that kind of relates to the memories. The foreground focus that a lot of the pictures has helps with that too. Plus I think that's reminiscent of the way that when you're very relaxed or mildly inebriated your eyes can sometimes slide in and out of focus.
I think it all combines to give the images a very nostalgic feeling and a definite mood.
