RE: Ektar - my results with this doing a similar style of photography have not been excellent. Being a 100 speed film it's pretty picky about light. This is no problem if you're hauling a tripod and you never have any people in your photos, but it definitely feels limiting to use. You also get color casts on long exposures (note also that the film has not great reciprocity failure). Ektar is almost like a slide film in that it is really designed for slow, very purposeful photography.
I like Portra 800 a lot, although it produces images that are perhaps too grainy to be used as a wallpaper (pic related).
