I know what kind of image you're talking about, however, most of them include asian (mostly chinese) elements. This is due to the fact that most concepts of urban futurism involve large amounts of people in dense areas, akin to that of heavily populated urban areas in china. Also, mandarin is the most widely spoken language and it makes sense that, in an overpopulated world, it would be integrated into common culture as a whole. Think of the world portrayed in Whedon's Firefly series.
