There is some serious hubris in telling a suicidal person, or someone who cuts or anything else, that they shouldn't, or really telling them anything.
Anyone who tells you go for it, or tells you not to go for it, is ultimately just throwing spaghetti at a wall. Fucking none of us know any better than you do about what is going on here. We don't know what this planet is, we don't know what life is, we don't know where we are going...
You are as much an expert about what all of this is about as anyone else.
That being said, some of these cultures look at death and even suicide as something to be celebrated. There are other perspectives to this.
My only advice, (and again, this is hubris)
If you do decide to go, I would hope that you do it with at least a little bit of a sense of adventure.
Do it for maybe a little bit of curiousity? And in doing so, I hope you set off with purpose.
