A few years ago a new guy, Gerry joined our department. He had blotchy skin, a receding hairline, and a crooked nose -- not very good-looking. And he genuinely became the most well-liked person in the office.
It wasn't pity. Everyone sincerely liked Gerry.
He got along with everybody, always made people smile and laugh, and always had a positive demeanour. It was like you'd feel a kind of energizing aura whenever you're around him.
It seems to work in his love life, as well. He has a fairly attractive girlfriend, and they've been together since before he joined the department.
I wish more people had a Gerry in their life. He completely changed how I look at the world.
Before I met him, I "knew" that looks aren't everything, but now I actually believe it.
