Basically, if our current interpretations of the laws of physics are correct (which they probably aren't but it's the best we've got at the moment) then the universe is doomed to die and everything any human will have ever done, is doing and will do will have been for naught in the end.
Why bother? To sate our senses.
Generally speaking, (the worst kind) all humans have a similar capacity for emotions. My philosophy is just to have a good time, let those cleverer than me figure out the science stuff and help others to enjoy their time as much as I am. We all experience joy and sadness and all that jazz and it'd be madness to intentionally inflict negativity on others when it feels so good for both parties to get along and have an excellent time.
The world will not be healed by dogma, rather by ceasing to be individuals and becoming relationships.
