>>7828796 Christ obviously taught to help the poor. I'm not saying to let homeless people rot because of one line in scripture. However,
that verse is absolutely 100% anti-marxist. The entire point is that Mary focuses on Christ first and foremost. Mary is personally giving love and attention to someone rather than thoughtlessly throwing her money into a big pot to be doled out by some faceless bureaucracy. Judas' thievery is of secondary importance when compared to his underlying ethos. He is essentially saying to forgo worshipping Christ and just obey some of his moral teachings. The verse is showing that any system that speaks of helping the poor from a distance without actually having to get your hands dirty by personally taking care of them is always a cover for thievery. Which is clearly born out by the historical evidence.
Christ clearly states that the poor will always be with us. Therefore, help them where you can and do not ignore the suffering of your brother but also beware those who claim to speak on their behalf or claim that their system will eradicate poverty because it is not true.
