>>7536878Currently I just store walls in folders based off where I acquired them. For example:
4channel / wg / [thread number]
As for actual organization, I've thought about this a lot. It's a hard problem.
For example, let's say you had these folders:
Wallpapers / Animals / Dogs
Wallpapers / Animals / Cats
What do you do when you have a wallpaper with both cats AND dogs?
Do you put a copy in both folders? That wastes space.
Do you put it in a folder specifically for wallpapers with multiple animals? You might overlook it if you were specifically looking for dog or cat wallpapers.
Does the presence of both a dog AND a cat mean the wallpaper fits neither the dog NOR cat folder? That'd be weird, at least for me.
But we (including myself) already do this instinctively. If I see a wall of a dog on a beach, in my head I classify it in the dog folder, not the beach folder.
I'm more inclined toward some kind of tag system, but I have hundreds of gigabytes of wallpapers (without dupes). Manual tagging isn't an option. I've been thinking about using machine learning to tag wallpapers but put it off for a long time now. Your post motivates me to actually start working on it, so thanks. I'll get started after lunch.
What about you? What are your thoughts on wallpaper organization?
