Also - don't quote me on this because computer science has rules and levels of precision different from normal science - I would at least assume that any type of conversion has a small loss %. If I was given a .jpg, I'd just keep it that way and change as little as possible from the source material in order to preserve it. However yes, if I was MAKING a wallpaper, I'd definitely use .png.
P.S. you don't need to force terms like based and chad to not sound like a normie, this is /wg/, and you can just use 4chan lingo when and where it feels natural anyway.
