If anyone is interested, this is a painting of the Defense of Rorke's Drift. This took place during the Anglo-Zulu war in the late 1800's. the 24th foot, a regiment which had just fought at Isandlwana wherein they were slaughtered to around 150 soldiers. They retreated to Rorke's Drift where they fought valiantly and were able to stave off 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. This eared them the most Victorian Crosses to any single regiment for any single action.
