do what you want to do, not what someone else (your parents, your friends, society) tells you to.

at the same time don't waste your time chasing something you know is not worth chasing, acknowledge sunk costs as what they are.
learn to live frugally, so you aren't dependent on some means of income all the time. save a lot of your income and live a simple life.
don't base your happiness on products or any things you can buy, but on experiences or things you can create for yourself (reading books and listening to music is also an experience)
don't be too hard on yourself, if you don't reach your goals, if you haven't left your house in a while, etc. this does not mean to stop trying though
and lastly, take your time. life is a journey, there's no need to rush. sometimes you need to stop and look around as to where you actually are and how everything looks.
