I took some pics to make a wallpaper, put I'm not skilled enough to make the hair look 'right'. I mean that there's no residual colour from the original background (white at first, black later) so it fits perfectly when some background is set as a bottom layer.
I saw a guy do it with letters whose background color had been changed by me; it was like an ordinary brush (he was using PS though).
If you can also provide the name of the tool on PS or GIMP it would be even more awesome in the long run.
