Anyway, the home button should still show on all your apps, so it's mostly going to be the same. For the homescreen itself, you can assign whatever functions you want to gestures, or you can swipe up a bit from the bottom of the screen and it will come back, OR you can tap and hold the screen and hit the settings option to bring up your launcher. I don't think there's too much risk with that level of redundancy, at least not in the few years I've been doing this stuff (first with Moto X, then S8)
I guess add all those redundancies and remove it when you're more comfortable.
