in ten years of drawing the comic, Bill Watterson was never once allowed a day off. they kept demanding more and more comics. They werre also pushing franchising heavily, which he was strictly against.
So in the end, he decided to fuck whitey and stopped Calvin and Hobbes while it was still on top.

I believe our fellow anon is mistaken. To my knowledge those comics were drawn by a fan and not Watterson himself. Though the mistake could be easy to make as they were very close to his style.
