Aesthetic artists were tired of art that was always making some political point or moral point or social cometary. They wanted the art to be more important than the subject and the viewer to have emotional detachment from the subject and just enjoy the pretty colors and stuff. Whistler's (yes the guy who painted his mother) Nocturne series is awesome. Albert Moore did pictures that were much less vague but he was also leader in the Aesthetic movement.
