Recently, there have been lots of people asking for wallpapers in a pretty stupid resolution because of their new android phones. I too had this problem, but managed to work out how to get around it today.
There is an app call 'backgrounds HD' which I think is the second result when you type in wallpapers on the google play store and has some pretty nice wallpapers.
Anyway, get the image that you want regardless of the resolution, and select set as wallpaper, but make sure you open it using the app.
You will have the option of 'scrollable' or 'non scrollable', Select non-scrollable and you should be able to set almost any image as your wallpaper.
