>>5492604Actually, the legionary system was invented by the Romans and in fact copied by other nations. Do your research, pleb. Perhaps you are thinking of the early republic army, which was made up of citizens that were rushed into service only when needed.
After the Marian Reforms, the Roman Army was the most advanced and powerful in the world. The soldiers were all professionals. The term of service was 20 years, plus 5 in reserve, so their soldiers were all veterans. And since Rome was constantly expanding, they all had extensive combat experience.
