This is my personal favourite of the ones I've done.
I've found that having a third copy of the original layer, colorised to a colour that really shows up, and put in between the two, really helps to catch any patches of grey that you've missed.

Of course, it's not really as necessary on images where the base colour already shows up the grey really well. But with lighter colours, like pink or yellow, it's pretty decent for catching stuff you would've missed otherwise.

Here is one I did with a Sepia background instead of the greyscale. It brings a little different feel to it. I like how it turned out.
