Icons are structured for one-handed use. The ones on the right and bottom are the easiest to reach with my thumb, and they are what I use most often outdoors. Some icons have swipe functionality, e.g. swipe Facebook to open FB messenger. Swipe down opens notifications, swipe down on upper right corner opens toggles. Swipe up opens the vertical app drawer, the gesture fits as you scroll the apps down with the same motion. The agenda screen looks a bit empty now, but during the semester it's full and that's why I want it on a separate screen. All done with Nova Launcher Prime on 4.4.2 Google Play Edition ROM.
