It'll be better if you do. You can always reverse image search and try to find a .png version though.

Also, do a google search for jpeg fragments. I'm too lazy to explain it right now.

Right click > Properties > and at the top you can manually erase .jpg and type in .jpg.

Sorry, I'm completely retarded.
You just right click it and click properties at the very bottom, then at the top you can manually change where it says .jpg to .png. Here's a screenshot:

There was a way to change all the jpgs in a folder to pngs automatically but I can't remember it. Let's see if I can find it:

Oh, I found it. You shift+right click the folder in which you want to change the file names, then click "Open Command Window Here."

From there you type in:

ren *.ext1 *.ext2

So if you wanted to change .jpg to .png, you would type in:

ren *.jpg *.png

From there you just hit enter and it's done. Here's a screenshot:
