The top of the head should be visible.
Also try not to crop the sides of the body or arms.
Source pic doesn't have to be proper resolution (e.g. 16:9). As long as you have the sides clear, and preferably a solid colored background, I can easily extend it to whatever resolution.
And finally, try keeping the source pics as high quality as possible. Grain and artifact patterns are common on cellphone cams and webcams, and it makes it very unsuitable to work with.
